PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Project is to develop the hydropower potential of the Sabah's second largest Padas river (catchment area: 7,815 km2) to meet the increasing power demand in Kota Kinabalu and major load centers also the west coast of Sabah State.

It involved the construction of a run-of-river type power station with an installed capacity of 66 MW, by harnessing a water head of about 69 m and an annual firm run-off of about 194 m3/sec.

FEATURES

Diversion weir: 83 m long

Headrace tunnel: 6.3 m in diameter x 4,384 m long

Power plant: Surface type, equipped with 22MWx3

Transmission lines: 132 kVx and 66kVx5 km
